"Burt Reynolds isn't available."
"Dammit. We’ll just have to make do with Sean Connery."
No offence, but I bet you don't hear that very often in Hollywood. Reynolds was the first choice of director John Boorman for the loinclothed leader of the Brutals.
Imaginative, muddled, fascinating, pretentious, sometimes boring fantasy, filmed around County Wicklow in the Republic of Ireland.
The Brutals, of the fiercely divided futuristic society, live in Glencree, a former reformatory now the Glencree Centre for Reconciliation – an organisation dedicated to bringing peace to Ireland – at Glencree, Enniskerry.
The immortal elite live in Hollybrook Hall, now the Brennanstown Riding School, Kilmacanogue, near Bray.
