Highschool basketball player Scott Howard (Michael J Fox) turns hairy (he actually looks more like an apeman) in this amiable comedy, set in ‘Nebraska’ but filmed around Los Angeles.
Scott’s home is 1727 Bushnell Avenue, off West Huntington Drive, South Pasadena – which is the same house into which Marty McFly was taken in Back To The Future.
Also in South Pasadena was the hardware store he works in, which was Balk’s, now Reimagine Your Home, 1518 Mission Street at Fair Oaks Avenue.
The school Scott attends is John Burroughs Middle School, 600 South McCadden Place in Hancock Park, midtown LA. It’s a popular filming location you might also have seen in that other 80s classic, Pretty In Pink.
‘Tony’s Liquor’, where Scott uses his werewolf stare to buy beer, is now Quick Stop Liquor, 6670 Foothill Boulevard near Tujunga Canyon Boulevard, Tujunga – not far from locations used for Christopher Nolan’s Memento and in Terminator 3: Rise Of The Machines.
