The Odd Couple | 1968
The cast for the big screen adaptation of Neil Simon’s classic play seems so perfect, it comes as a surprise to remember that the original Broadway production (directed by Mike Nichols) starred Walter Matthau and Art Carney. And the film was almost directed by Billy Wilder.
The apartment shared by slobby Oscar (Matthau) and prissy Felix (Jack Lemmon) is 131 Riverside Drive at 85th Street overlooking Riverside Park on Manhattan’s West Side.
