Airport '75 | 1974

Would you get on a flight with a guitar-strumming nun, a boozy actress and plucky Linda Blair awaiting a kidney transplant? In the first sequel to the 1970 blockbuster, stewardess Nancy Pryor (Karen Black) takes the controls of a stricken 747 after a mid-air collision.

The doomed flight takes off from Dulles International Airport, which serves Washington DC but is actually about twenty miles to the west on Dulles Access, Route 267, in Virginia.

Alan Murdock (Charlton Heston) and Joe Patroni (George Kennedy) are flown in to Salt Lake City International Airport , five miles northwest of downtown Salt Lake City itself, to take charge. The mid-air helicopter-to-747 transfer stunt was filmed over the Heber Valley, east of the Wasatch Range in Utah.

Other airports used in the production include Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), One World Way; the old Van Nuys Airport (also briefly seen in Casablanca) 6590 Hayvenhurst Avenue, Van Nuys, northwest Los Angeles; and Edwards Air Force Base north of Los Angeles in the Mojave Desert. There are guided tours of the base (request in advance), which has more recently been seen in Armageddon, Transformers and Iron Man.
