This wild hit’n’miss spoof, which spawned a whole genre of variable quality and reinvented staright actor Leslie Nielsen as the master of deadpan humour, based not on Airport but on Arthur Hailey’s play Flight Into Danger (filmed as Zero Hour! in 1957 with Dana Andrews as the shell-shocked pilot having to land a ’plane after the crew goes down with food poisoning).
The featured airport is, of course, Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), One World Way, southwest of the city at the end of Sepulveda Boulevard.
