There's no London in this chiller from the era of Universal's classic monster movies, six years before Lon Chaney Jr's more famous portrayal. As with most of the series, it's shot largely on the Universal Studios Hollywood backlot in Los Angeles.
Botanist Dr Glendon (Henry Hull gets the fateful lycanthrope bite while searching for a mysterious plant in 'Tibet'.
These opening scenes set in the 'Far East' are Vasquez Rocks Natural Area Park, 10700 West Escondido Canyon Road, near Agua Dulce Springs, southern California. The striking formation can be seen in lots of other films, including Mel Brooks' Blazing Saddles, The Flintstones, Star Trek (2009), Bill And Ted's Bogus Journey and Apache.
