The first of seven Bob Hope-Bing Crosby-Dorothy Lamour Road To... comedies. When it’s not in the studio, film’s exotic locations use the environs of Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden, at 301 North Baldwin Avenue, Arcadia, east of Pasadena. A 127-acre botanical garden, it’s provided lush jungle backdrops for countless movies.
Its tropical foliage has been seen in Tarzan movies, TV’s Fantasy Island (the kitschy little Queen Anne cottage is here), classics such as George Cukor’s The Women and William Wyler’s The Best Years of Our Lives, a couple of Alfred Hitchcock movies (Notorious and Under Capricorn), and literally hundreds of others, including 2011’s Bridesmaids.
