Meryl Streep reinvents herself as action woman in this white water action drama.
At the film’s opening, she trains on the Charles River, Cambridge, Massachusetts, but she’s soon fiercely protecting her family in the wilderness.
The Kootenai River in Montana is featured – where for the first time filming was permitted on ground sacred to the Kootenai Indians, but only on condition that the actual location, near Libby in the far northwest of the state, would not be revealed.
About 80 miles to the east, the Middle Fork section of the Flathead River was also used, alongside Route 2, between West Glacier and Essex in the Waterton Glacier International Peace Park.
Additional scenes were filmed on the Rogue River, between Hog Creek and Argo Riffle, north of Medford in southwest Oregon.
