The exterior of the spooky ‘Morningside’ mausoleum of this bizarre horror-comedy is Dunsmuir-Hellman Historic Estate, 2960 Peralta Oaks Court, Oakland, over the bay from San Francisco, a location familiar from movies such as Mike Myers’ So I Married an Axe Murderer, Burnt Offerings and A View to a Kill. It is open to the public. The interior was a set.
The main street, with the ice cream parlor, is Julian, a southern California mining town about 40 miles northeast of San Diego.
