Gunfight At The OK Corral | 1957

Another version of the legendary showdown between Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday and the Clantons. A great film but not much to do with history.

Much of the movie, including ‘Fort Griffin, Texas’, was filmed at the Western facsimile town of Old Tucson, 201 South Kinney Road, Arizona, now a major tourist attraction.

The set was originally built for the 1940 Western Arizona, and has been seen in such films as Rio Bravo, El Dorado and Sam Raimi's The Quick and the Dead.

The 'Clanton ranch' was built near Gold Canyon against the backdrop of the Superstition Mountains. The set was later expanded and in 1960 developed to become the Apacheland Movie Ranch, but was ultimately destroyed by fire in 2004.

Also in Arizona, the crew ventured south to the town of Elgin, another favourite location, just down the road from the real Tombstone; and to the Empire Ranch in Sonoita, a few miles to the west.

‘Dodge City' was filmed back at the Paramount Ranch, Agoura, California.
