Albert Finney takes over the schoolmaster’s gown from Michael Redgrave who starred as Crocker-Harris in the 1951 film version of Terence Rattigan's famous stage play.
School scenes were again filmed at Sherborne School in Sherborne, Dorset. This time though the school exterior is that of Milton Abbey School, Milton Abbas, about 12 miles southeast and also in Dorset.
