The ‘African’ villages of this dismal sequel were constructed on the 777 Ranch, 5420 County Road 531, Hondo near San Antonio, Texas.
A 15,000 acre wildlife reserve, the ranch is open to the public for safari tours and, yes, you can ride the same zebra-striped jeep seen in the movie.
More scenes were filmed in Texas, at Camp Waldemar, Botany Bay Plantation; in Canada, at ski destination, Panama Resort, British Columbia; and in South Carolina at Cherokee Plantation. Sets were built in the old, disused General Dynamics plant in Bushy Park, on the Cooper River near Goose Creek, North Charleston – which is also where the 'New York subway station' was built for Die Hard With A Vengeance.
