This smalltown drama, set in early Sixties Australia, was shot in the town of Braidwood, on the plateau above the South Coast, halfway between Canberra and Bateman’s Bay on Kings Highway, New South Wales.

The beautiful 19th century town has been used as a backdrop for other movies, including the 1991 sequel, Flirting, and Tony Richardson’s1970 Ned Kelly (with Mick Jagger as the tin-helmeted outlaw).

The hotel exterior is the Braidwood Hotel, 180 Wallace Street (which back then was called the Commercial Hotel), while its interior is next door, the Royal Mail Hotel, 145 Wallace Street. The Royal Cafe, 106 Wallace Street , is also featured.
