George Miller’s sequel to his low-budget smash takes on an epic sweep, and its post-punk visual style launched a slew of rip-offs.
Once a booming silver town – producing one third of the world’s silver – Silverton is now known mostly as a film location, seen in productions such as Russell Mulcahy’s 1984 giant boar horror Razorback, the TV miniseries version of A Town Like Alice, The Adventures Of Priscilla, Queen Of The Desert and Mission: Impossible II.
The stretch of road used for the climactic smash-up can be seen just outside town, towards the Mundi Mundi Plain.
