The locations for Boys Don’t Cry can be found in Texas, though the events which inspired the story occurred in Falls City, Nebraska. Brandon Teena, a popular, handsome new boy in town, was brutally murdered and found to be Teena Brandon, a lesbian living as a boy.

The skating rink, where Brandon (Hilary Swank) meets up with a girl at the start of the movie, is Dad’s Broadway Skateland, 3022 Moon Drive, in Mesquite, east of Dallas.

Crandall, on US-175, about 20 miles southeast of Dallas, stands in for ‘Falls City’, though the town’s courthouse is Hunt County Courthouse, 2507 Lee Street, Greenville, 45 miles northeast of Dallas.

Brandon falls for Lana (Chloe Sevigny), visiting her at the McKinney Grain Company, 206 Main Street, Mckinney, on US-75 way to the north of Dallas, where she works.
